About Me

I am Melinda Wood -- mother -- grandmother -- world traveler -- lover of God and of people! I grew up in rural northwest Louisiana in the small town (actual designation is "village') of Pleasant Hill in Sabine parish. After my 4 years of college in nearby Natchitoches (famous for their meat pies and annual Christmas Festival), I married and returned to Sabine parish, this time to Many, the parish seat. 

It was never my dream to spend most of my life in Sabine parish but love, marriage, and the baby carriage seemed to ensure my destiny there. Fortunately, my now ex-husband worked for a company 

that offered reward trips for which employees could qualify. Qualify he did!! I was blessed to accompany him on many wonderful trips in the US and abroad.

I am now divorced and with the COVID quarantine I had plenty of time to reflect on my past trips and wonder if my traveling days are over. I came to the decision that - I MUST TRAVEL!!  I've made cuts to my budget and I'm always looking for ways to supplement my income.  I love to cook for family and friends and have done many bake sale fundraisers. I can't count the times that I've been told that I need to open a restaurant....but that's a lot of hard work and I imagine it would take all the fun out of cooking and baking. I love to shop, love to search for deals and hunt for the perfect gift for whoever I'm buying for....but there's no market for my shopping skills in rural northwest Louisiana. I love to travel and I also love to plan trips; it can take a lot of time and research to plan a trip to an unknown location. The travel blog idea kept coming to me; I read that after 3 years, one couple was able to travel the world funded by their blog. As exciting as that sounds, the main reason I want to blog is to encourage travel experiences -- road trips with the grands, girls trips to a new destination, take the plunge and book a fight to go see that old friend, get a passport and broaden your horizons or just take a day and explore locally. There's so much to see and I want to see it all!
